What's In It For You!
We are located in a mixture of small town farm country, recreational destinations, and urban culture. Consider that Lake Erie is only 6 miles away. Ferry boat ports are at Sandusky and Port Clinton to take you out to the islands (Put-In-Bay and Kelly's Island are popular destinations). The shoreline is dotted with natural areas, wildlife refuges and preserves--not to mention the beaches. Many charter boats operate from local ports. Huron and Sawmill Creek Resort are 15 minutes away. Cleveland is less than an hour to the east. Amish Country (the largest Amish/Mennonite region in the U.S.) is an hour south. In 10 minutes you can be at Kalahari , the largest indoor water park in the country. Twenty minutes gets you to Cedar Point amusement park or Vermilion and Linwood Park. While in Vermilion, check out the Great Lakes Museum where you can study the fate of the Edmund Fitzgerald. The Football Hall of Fame is in Canton, 95 minutes away. The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is an easy hour away, and the Norwalk Raceway Park is just out of earshot!
Then there is our local village of Milan, once one of the busiest Great Lakes ports and the birthplace of Thomas Alva Edison. Visit the historical section of the village and immerse yourself in the history of the town and our greatest inventor. While in Milan have a cup of tea at Polly Anna's Tea Room or a delicious coffee at the Coffee Station. Cruise in to the Milan Village Square with your classic car on Tuesday nights in the summer. Nearby Berlin Heights has the Basket Festival the first weekend of August, and Milan hosts the Melon Festival the first weekend of September . If presidential history is your interest, are you remembering that Ohio was home to Grant, Garfield, Hayes, Harding, McKinley, and Taft ?
Colleges and Universities ? We are surrounded by them in North Central Ohio. Oberlin, Wooster, Baldwin-Wallace, Bowling Green, Case Western Reserve, Cleveland State, Denison, Ohio Wesleyan, Ohio State and branch campuses, Heidelberg, Kenyon, Findlay, Bluffton, and Mt Vernon-Nazarene are all in the region. Consider us for those parent's weekends, homecoming, or graduation journeys.
